Geraldine Foley as many of you may know is a senior occupational therapist working within the interdisciplinary MND team in Beaumont Hospital. She and her colleagues, physiotherapists Deirdre Murray and Rosin Moloney conducted an audit within their respective fields to assess the continuity of care of the MND patients from the hospital setting to the community section.
Bernie Corr is a Clincial Nurse Specialist, has worked with MND patients for many years and is an expert in her field. Over the years she has taken a special interest in the decisions which are sometimes relevant to the MND patient and his/her family/carers at end-of-life. Bernie has explored the usefulness of an advanced care directive which is a valuable tool when implementing person’s wishes at end-of-life.
Dr. Julie Phukan presented a talk which reported cutting edge findings stemming from her three year research project. It is well known that cognitive impairment can occur during the course of MND, however Julie found that early deficits in verbal fluency can predict later cognitive impairment.
