The Multi-disciplinary Team

Specialist Multi-disciplinary (MD) clinics provide tertiary service to patients with MND. Clinics are comprised of a wide range of clinical professional specialists with expertise in MND. Ideally, such clinics provide both diagnostic and management services, and facilitate continuity of care by liaising with the primary care clinician and community-based services.

Multi-disciplinary care for people with MND is designed in a patient-centered format, with an in-built flexibility and responsiveness that reflects the evolving nature of the condition.

Patients have early and direct access to experienced clinical professional services such physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and nutrition, and off site access to interventional radiology and respiratory medicine. Care is integrated across hospital and community, to facilitate a seamless delivery of services that can adapt to the evolving needs of patients and carers.
